Neil Sanders is a British author, researcher, psychologist and qualified hypnotherapist, whose specialist area is exposing mass mind control techniques. For this podcast, he chats with Mark Devlin about how all of us are subject to having our perceptions shaped and moulded for us on a subliminal level, regardless of how sharp or 'immune' we might consider ourselves to be. Awareness of the techniques used, however, are the key to breaking free from the programming and truly thinking for yourself.

Neil cites many examples of how mass mind control is used in marketing and entertainment - particularly the music industry, and specifically the hip-hop genre. Other areas discussed in this far-reaching conversation include the CIA's MK Ultra programme, Edward Bernays and Walter Lipman, false versions of history, The Tavistock Institute, predictive programming, hypnotism, and many others.

Coming back to contemporary times, Matt sheds some light on the strange business of rapper Jay Electronica, his apparently faked life story and his relationship with a Rothschild heiress. He also examines the case of Lauryn Hill and her recent demonisation, as an apparent consequence of speaking out critically about the industry.

THE SOUND OF FREEDOM - COMING SOON TO THE PEOPLE'S VOICE!

Things are gearing up for the launch of The Sound Of Freedom, the weekly two-hour conscious music showcase that I feel privileged to be presenting on the upcoming People's Voice network.

With the proliferation of mind-numbing, spirit-crushing brain candy being constantly peddled by the mainstream, it's easy to forget that real music is still being made, by credible artists, with intelligence, insight and creativity. TSOF will be where to catch the very best of it, as an uplifting antidote.  The show's mission is to offer a selection of music, both old and new, whose lyrics address the many subject areas which the People's Voice will be covering. These will range from the conspiratorial and confrontational, through to the spiritual, esoteric and inspirational - plus all points in between!  

The music will be mainly hip hop-based, but with some reggae and soulful grooves, and the occasional journey into other styles. A pivotal feature will be The Truth Trip, which each week will re-visit three tunes from decades past, with the artists of the day articulating ideas that are just as relevant now as they were back when they were recorded - and sometimes moreso!

He rejoins Mark Devlin for a second conversation which starts by questioning many of the esoteric elements of Pink Floyd and their music over the decades, including the strange business of frontman Syd Barrett's apparent descent into madness.

We move on to the California hippie commune of Laurel Canyon, the creative breeding ground for a staggering number of artists who came to shape the late 60s 'counter culture' scene. Tellingly, almost all come from family backgrounds linked to the CIA, or the US military industrial complex, and there are some sinister links with the grisly Manson Family murders of 1969.

This is the first of a two-part conversation. Come back soon for part two, focusing on a couple of notable contemporary artists.
