GOOD VIBRATIONS PODCAST, VOL. 159: MARTIN BROWN - THE DARK SIDE OF THE FLOYD

It's back to music industry research for this episode - a revolutionary act in itself when any other show in the Brave New World of 2020 is about the C-word.

Joining me is music fan and citizen researcher Martin Brown who, inspired by 'Musical Truth' and the work of David McGowan, set about looking into one of his favourite groups, Pink Floyd, to see what nefarious connections may lie beneath as possible clues as to just why this group became as phenomenally influential as they did.

All the group members, Martin asserts, come from incredibly posh backgrounds, and joining a rock band was not a natural career path for any of them. We discuss the Floyd's early role in helping to shape and define London's psychedelic counter-culture, the ensuing 'madness' of Syd Barrett, and the group's reinvention as bastions of the progressive rock scene.

We focus specifically on the extra-curricular activities of the outspoken and enigmatic Roger Waters, questioning how sincere or otherwise his actions may be.

Martin is collating his extensive research on aspects of Floyd conspicuously missing from official biographies, into an upcoming book. He can be e-mailed directly at mauve098@gmail.com
