THE TRUTH TRIP SOUNDCLASH, VOLUME 1: CHARLIE FREAK

In the first of a new, semi-regular series, Mark Devlin is joined by guest Charlie Freak to explore the powerful impact of truth music - that which happens when artists are left to express themselves freely and put great wisdom into the lyrics of a song.

Charlie goes back to back with Mark in a reggae soundclash style, as each of them select eight tracks from decades that truly resonate, and analyse the lyrical content and sentiments of each song. If music like this were played on the TV and radio, all over the world, 24/7, the course of human consciousness could be radically altered within a generation; it says so much that it’s not!

(This is real talk throughout, so be advised that the odd F-bomb gets dropped as we express ourselves openly and naturally.)

Charlie Freak’s 150 Most Important Rock Albums book series, which includes more analyses of this nature, can be accessed here:

The two volumes of Mark Devlin’s ‘Musical Truth’ books are available here:

Many message music songs of the kind discussed in this chat are available in the ongoing Sound of Freedom conscious music podcast, the full archives to which can be accessed here:
