Mention the idea of ‘Satanism’ in the music industry to any random individual, and their mind will probably go straight to the genres of Heavy Metal and Heavy Rock, such has been their association with the dark occult through groups such as Black Sabbath, Iron Maiden, Megadeth and Judas Priest. How did these associations come about, are they justified, and how much of it can be attributed to controversial hype, versus genuine links with the occult?
Guesting to discuss these points is U.S. rock musician-turned-researcher Chris Drapeau. We get into the ‘devil’s horns’ frequently flashed by both band members and fans at gigs, and Chris gives his perspective on where this came from. We also cover the subject of backmasking - subliminal messages placed in reverse in recordings, which have been much associated with these genres. Other aspects discussed include the genre’s roots, including a black mass committed to vinyl back in 1969, and the deeply dark Black Metal scene coming out of Norway.

No figure seems to have had more of an influence on the popular music icons of the past 50 years than the notorious British occultist Aleister Crowley, and the teachings he espoused through organisations such as The Golden Dawn, AA, and Ordo Templi Orientis, (OTO.) Why should there be any link at all between magick rituals, and the world of entertainment?
Guesting to consider the question is American author, researcher and film-maker William Ramsey, who has written three books on Crowley. We discuss the myths, apparent contradictions and hidden aspects of Crowley’s life, and examine the effect that his work seems to have on a few specific names in the music world. The chat also touches on the appeal of the OTO towards celebrities, Crowley’s links to the world of military-intelligence, and who one of his illegitimate children might just be.

MIND CONTROL SYMBOLISM IN VINTAGE MADNESS VIDEO
I caught this Madness video on Top Of The Pops 1983 last night. Anyone who’s looked at symbolism will recognise the second half of this, (about 2:10 onwards) as being Mind Control Programming 101. Absolutely blatant, and the relevance would have been missed by 99.9 per cent of people at the time, without the opportunity then for the public to research such things.
